America makeup haul

Again a belated post of all the makeup I got when I went to America but if I'm honest it has taken me awhile to test them all out. Firstly EOS lip balm in Summer fruits, I now understand the hype! Before I went to the states I didn't even know what these things were. I just thought 'what are those weird egg things that everyone has?' I found this pretty cheap in a drug store that became our favourite shop, it had everything in there! The balm smells delicious and is so easy to use and instantly hydrates your lips and turns them completely baby soft. Next up is the MAC mineralize skinfinish a beauty of a product that I had my eye on for months but I couldn't justify the price tag. I went into the MAC shop in Times Square and asked to test the pinkier shade but this was way too light for me, so the lady recommended this one pictured. Which is a gorgeous shimmery bronzer and highlight in one which works perfectly together or seperately, I think it gives your going out makeup a bit extra glamour. I found the third item from the same drug store and I had never seen it before it was the Maybellene colour tattoo pure pigment in Buff n Tuff. I am really interested in pigments at the moment but I did have a bit of trouble using this as it was very messy and it wasn't as metallic as I had hoped for but I will give it another go and see if I warm to it. My favorite purchase had to be my matte super red MAC lipstick in Relentless Red. It lasts all day without fading even when I eat and drink and although it is matte it doesn't dry my lips out. It gives a gorgeous pop of colour to any makeup look. My final purchase was the NARS Laguna and orgasum blush and bronzer duo again I have seen so many people say good things about this product, that I thought I would see for myself. When I first used this I was slightly worried it would be too bright for me but with the right foundation it is lovely and gives your cheeks a girly flush of colour.

I would love to know what you think of these items if you have them? ox

New York

This is very belated post as New York was around a month ago now which is crazy as it feels like yesterday but I must say I did need some time to recover. Firstly I had never experienced jet lag before so that was interesting. Also I was clever enough to wear brand new leather converse which tore my feet to pieces but I walked through the pain and had the most amazing time. As pathetic as it sounds we felt like we were in the movies and when anything New York related comes on television now we geek out. We did all the tourist type things that everyone tells you to go to and we treated ourselves to a few items that we couldn't justify at home. The food was unbelieveable and we did eat our own body weight in carbs but I think with all the walking it balanced itself out (I hope!) I must say the hop on buses were vital we learnt a lot and soon got to grips with as much as we could in the time we had. Also we had a little soft spot for one of the tour guides who was freezing cold but kept everyone happy with his sense of humour. I would happily go again just maybe in more comfortable footwear.

Clothes show live

Sunday was so much fun I took my friend to the Clothes show live as she had never been before. I went on the intention to buy a few Christmas presents but it turned out to be a "go on treat yourself!" kind of a day. I didn't buy many of the goodie bags this year as a couple of them were abit too similar to the ones I already own. I bought the Rimmel one this year which consisted of Sun shimmer instant tan which unfortunately I do not use, I know what a freak I must be! I am pale and have learnt to embrace it as I really do not think I can pull off the bronzed goddess look. Maybe one day! I also got a Salon pro Kate nail varnish in a gorgeous post box red colour so I am looking forward to using that on the ole fingers and toes. My new best friend is the Lash Accelerator Endless Mascara I thought to myself nothing is going to come close to the MAC mascara I own but this is lovely the brush is in a shape I have never seen before and fans out your lashes beautifully so they are long but not clumpy, so this might be my new go to mascara when I want my makeup to look a bit more girly. As for the Wake me up foundation all I've heard from this product is lots of positive reactions so I got really excited knowing it was in my goodie bag, until I saw it was just a tiny sample packet in a colour to dark for me. Can't say I wasn't disappointed, never the less I will give it ago to see if I should buy the full sized bottle. Anyway for a fiver I can't really moan can I?

Next purchase was those adorable boots! I've seen them on a few Instagrams and websites and they have been rather expensive but I grabbed these for £25 which I was over the moon about! I plan to wear these out completely over these chilly months.

My favorite purchase of the day was the hot pink Ted Baker bag. I got this little beauty half price, I was still trying to convince myself not to buy it but my friend can be very persuasive and I am so glad I bought it!  Although it is pretty summer/spring I think it adds colour to any outfit no matter the season!

I also purchased some Helen E Glitters and some THK Turn Up The Heat Digital Staightners but I shall do a seperate review on those bad boys!

An extra thrill of excitement was spotting a few celebs from a far but having to fight through an army of girls just seemed to exhausting so we didn't really attempt it. Jamie from MIC posed nicely for a photo and Lucky for us Union J turned up in the stall next to us and after shouting Union J are behind you several times to my friend before she realised what I was saying, we took some cheeky photos. So all in all a good day out!

Any bargains your proud of this month? ox

Making a start

Apologies for the lack of blogging lately I will be putting up my New York entries ASAP, but with Christmas suddenly appearing it is going to get super busy. I went to the Good Food show yesterday which is a little tradition now. It's always a lovely day out and having lots of free tasters is always a plus. We found a little vintage stall and as my other half and I are planning on getting our own place in the the new year. we are trying work out what we want it too look like. We found these adorable old milk bottles for pretty cheap and we thought they would be really cute when having people over. I can't wait to share with you all our home purchases and when we go house hunting! ox

My first Birchbox

Laura Mericier - Tinted moisturizer, Dr. Brant -  Microdermabrasion skin exfoliant, Kms California - Free shape deep conditioner, theBalm cosmetics - Stainiac, Dr. Lipp - Nipple balm for lips, Egyptian Magic.

I have been wondering wether to subscribe to Birchbox for awhile now so a couple of weeks ago I decided to give it a go. When it arrived I felt myself get all excited and I must say I am a sucker for packaging design and I found the presentation beautiful. I love the fact they give you little extras too, this month it was some eyelash curlers and Egyptian magic - All purpose skin cream.
I tried this item first my initial thought was that it was pretty greasy and I have got a slight fear of oil based products but I must say I was plesently surprised. It obsorbed into my skin straight away and instantly made it silky smooth. The Dr. Brant - Microdermabrasion skin exfoliant was next on my list to test it smelt lovely and my skin did feel baby soft afterwards but when I saw the price tag I thought i best put it on the 'next payday list'. The Dr. Lipp - Nipple balm for lips is my new every day item especially as it is getting pretty cold outside. At first I thought the whole nipple thing was strange but It is genius, super hydrating and gives your lips a lovely shine. The Kms Calafornia - Free shape deep conditioner is a god send as I have a dangerous love affair with bleach, it made my hair easier to tame and soft to the touch from the first use which is always a bonus. Unfortunately the Laura Mericier - Tinted moisturizer was to dark for my skin tone, I am pretty pale so I need to be very careful when picking these type of products. It was a shame as it was lightweight and blended well. I also struggled with the theBalm cosmetics - Stainiac, it was a dark red and didn't blend well enough into my cheeks but as a lip gloss i think it would be quite a nice colour but I do tend to lean more towards lipsticks rather than gloss.

Have you got a Birchbox subscription?
If so I'd love your opinions? ox

Along came Betty

Along came Betty - Br-wow
I spotted this on one of @velvetgh0st's YouTube videos. I have been previously just using a dark brown eyeshadow and a slanted edge brush to fill in my eyebrows. I never used to fill them in at all but now I don't know what I used to look like without it. This was from tesco for a pretty reasonable price of just under five pounds. It tells you to blend the fair with the dark brown but even though I am blonde, the darker the better for me personally but that's the great thing about this product you can blend the colours to suit your own style/skin tone. I have been wearing it for the last few days and I must say I am very happy with the result. The wax is super for keeping your brows all neat and tidy and it hasn't smudged or faded through out the day. If your just starting to experiment with filling your eyebrows in and don't want to spend a bomb, I would give this a go. Any new products your loving this autumn? ox

Purchase of the month

As I mentioned in my last post I found a quirky little shop in Manchester and since I bought this item, I  have completely fell in love with it. I know heart print is pretty generic at the moment but this shirt really stood out to me. It's thicker than other shirts I have purchased in the past, so it's perfect for these colder months that are creeping up on us. It's longer at the back than at the front and is pretty baggy but comes in tighter at the bottom of the sleeves which again is different to other shirts I own. I also think it could be dressed up or down which is great cause I'm a sucker for a staple piece. Have you fallen in love with any autumn pieces this month? ox

I've been to Manchester a couple of times before but I have never really seen a lot of it. Just the shopping centres to tell the truth. This time we decided to go explore a little more, we found some quirky little streets with cute vintage shops tea rooms and comic book/record stores and my boyfriend was in his element. This lead me to stand in a boiling hot basement full of comics for at least thirty minutes before he decided which one he wanted most. After this I found a really cool looking shop with skulls, floral and Victorian jewellery in the window I found a lovely clothing piece which I shall tell you about in another post. Later on that evening we googled the best places to eat as we love American themed restaurants we thought we would start there. I stumbled on a place called 'The Alchemist'. From the reviews on trip adviser I instantly got excited to go there. When we pulled up outside I knew it was going to be fun. We do have a lot of restaurants in Birmingham but I love finding places that are a little different. The place was full of energy and service was lovely. We ordered a crazy cocktail which consisted of chemistry beakers, dry ice and gorgeous little tea cups. It was something I'd never really seen before and we loved it. Even the food was something special with little details like a  basket in the shape of a chicken to hold your food and it tasted beautiful. It was a great night and I think anyone would enjoy it as it had definitely something for everyone. This weekend has taught me not to just go to places we already are familiar with but to dig a little deeper.

Enrapture encode totem styler

I have been wanting one of these for awhile now but as they are a little pricey, I kept putting it off. So this pay day I thought why not? I am going to be honest and admit that I am pretty lazy when it comes to styling my own hair. The rolled out of bed look normal serves me well but iv always wanted to be able to get curly hair quickly and I've found this to work like a dream. I love the fact that you can use the coding system to get which ever style curl you feel like at the time. Today I attempted the bohemian soft curl and loved it. I'm not going to lie I did burn my fingers a few times out of clumsiness, but I was really Impressed with how quickly the styler heated up I didn't have to wait long at all and that's great for me as I tend to be a little impatient. I am really happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend this to girls on the hunt for the perfect curl.

The States

I have been contemplating moving out for awhile now and it's something I do want in the near future but I really want to travel a little more first. Hopefully finally pass my driving test before the end of the year and start feeling more like a grown up. So how have I started this new adult way of living? ... by going to Disney world! Totally hypercritical I know but I can't tell you how excited I am that we booked a week trip to florida on a whim. I am living by no more excuses if I want to do something, i'm going to work hard and make it happen and this holiday was the first on my list as well as NYC. I have always wanted to go to America although it has always seemed out of reach but saving a little each month really does seem to go along way. The thing I am looking forward to the most is taking loads of photographs, as much as I love photography, I always seem to tell myself I havn't got anything interesting to take photos of, or I have not got enough time but this is the perfect location for me to get snap happy. I can't wait to share them! This new mentality of mine is also why I have started this blog I know it's super basic at the moment but I am going to nurture it and hopefully it grows into something I am proud of.

I'd love to know what other peoples biggest aspirations are? ox

One sketch a day

I have been wanting one of these for ages, but the thought of forcing myself to make the time to sketch each day has been a bit frightening. Although I can't keep moaning that my work doesn't develop if I don't practise enough. The thing that I struggle with most is finding inspiration and knowing what to draw. Having this book with me constantly will hopefully stop me from making excuses and help me capture what comes to mind no matter where I am. I will show some of my progress on here, so wish me luck! ox

I am not the most free spirit out there, I love my electrical equipment and I have a deep need to be clean so only having a bucket as a shower for two days was pretty scary. I was also a little anxious about sleeping in a shed all weekend, but it turned out to be the most glamourous camping trip I have had to date. The weather helped, we had gorgeous sunshine every day and Brighton is such a lovely place to be. I had never been there before and I had only heard good things so we thought this weekend we should give it a go. I really loved the atmosphere, the mixture between the hustle and bustle, quirky little backstreets with little vintage shops and the british excitement of being at the sea side.
I must say my favourite part was winning a plastic blow up alien, I was extremely happy with myself.
As for our little shepherds hut we found our selves growing attached to our little bed and cooker, as well as waking up with a sheep at the window just checking if we were ok. So our time in the countryside was hardly bare grills but I did feel like I had achieved something even if anti bacterial hand gel is now my new best friend.

So I went to see World War Z, after all the hype about it not being as good as the book, I didn't know what to expect but to be truthful I loved it! Our faithful friend Brat Pitt saves the day once more and seems to land where he needs to be every time something dramatic happens but it's ok as the CGI surely makes up for it. You know if a zombie apocalypse ever happens, I like to think i would be one of those girls who kicks ass, but in reality I would probably just rock in the corner crying.
